Construction of the new Bus Depot for Abellio at Dawley Road, Hayes, Middlesex, is under way. MAW Consulting have been appointed by Abellio London as Quantity Surveyors for the £3.40 million project. The latest appointment is for a 3,500 m2 open yard area, suitable for parking 53Nr buses, with 230 m2 two storey office and welfare building with bio-diverse roof covering. The site also incorporates a bus wash, engine wash, and fuelling facilities. Boshers Master Builders Ltd were successful in winning the competitive tender. Construction commenced on 2nd August 2021 and is scheduled for completion in March 2022. The site has historically been filled and requires a significant amount of remediation to achieve the necessary loading criteria for the service yard. The works incorporate the necessary underground ductwork installations to allow for future electric bus charging facilities. The front wall of the site is considered a heritage asset and requires taking down and rebuilding brick for brick taking account of the new entrance position and visibility splays. The foul drainage installation requires pumping over 100 m beyond the site boundary to connect to the nearest sewer.
